Not too long ago I had posted a number of additional comments to the "Races" page. A few of which were pointing to the Races Page on the Wiki. Since then the site was updated with the link to the Races section points to the Wiki section.
One thing which is not mentioned on the Wiki page though is the contents of this "History Lesson". This page has been rather vital for me in helping people out wanting to play AI based characters, especially those wishing to play sentient AI's.
It lays the foundation in lore regarding The Mutually Assured Systems Integrity Act (MASIA) of 2433 and something called "404 day". To be more specific...I'll quote the opening of this article.
"The Mutually Assured Systems Integrity Act (MASIA) of 2433, (Pub.M. 412-116, 116 Stat. 404, enacted March 25, 2433) was introduced in the wake of the total systems collapse of the Centralized Exchange Network (CENet) on March 9, 2433; popularly known as 404-Day. The MASIA was cosponsored by 37 members of the corporate Allied Regulatory Committee. and was ratified by the Universal Banking Corporation on April 3, 2433."
Also this page details the different classes of AI. (Class I, II, III, IV, V, VI.). Which comes in handy.
Also there's Two special ALL-Class Addendums regarding AI's characters. Regulating Self Replication and Gestalt Intelligence.
All these details have been extremely handy to cite when assisting people setting up or wishing to play AI characters. If anything it makes sense lore wise and not as a "because we said No" or put to the player "No you can't have that" without a worthy explanation...or you need to become a "Veteran role player here before you're allowed." Which equally lends no true insight into the explanation.
It's a little tricky trying to dumpster dive through some of the postings looking for things, and seeking out the lore and the logic of lore here. This is one aspect of AI's and races which I believe still applies and some careful thought and consideration was put into it at the time.
